The CCI2* of Eventing Flevoland was won by Germany's Pia Leuwer with Hanami 4. Her husband Ben Leuwer took second prize with the horse Citius and also represented the winner during the award ceremony. "Pia is currently taking care of the horses," he said.
"We came to Emmeloord with five horses," says Ben Leuwer. "I also rode at this venue years ago and had actually completely forgotten how beautiful it is here." His wife was also his competitor in the eventing competition. "But I don't experience that at all. On the contrary, we help each other in everything and are also each other's trainer and coach. We are a real team, and that just helps. Today she was just a little bit better." He looks back on the cross-country well: "It was a fair cross. But not easy, the horses were quite impressed by the many visitors. It felt like a 'small Boekelo'."
The best Dutch competitor in this class was Noor Kuilboer, who finished third with Landgraaf. "I am very happy. With my other horse I also finished in the prizes in the 1*. In this class I was already in good shape after the dressage. It is a really nice competition, next year I will definitely be there again!"
